The Meters - Rejuvenation (1974)

Slicker than their previous records with a greater focus on vocal tracks. And while the Meters were definitely better players than singers, this is still a great record. These dudes were masters by this point, but what really strikes me is how even when soloing they don't overplay and let the grooves breathe. The groove on "Just Kissed My Baby" is just irresistible. "It Ain't No Use" is a long hot jam that never gets dull and I will ignore its influence on jam bands. Thankfully there are no lame cover tunes here that had plagued their early albums. It flows, it grooves, it goes.
